Softball Splits Another Doubleheader Against John Jay

The Bearcats and Bloodhounds of John Jay College split a CUNYAC doubleheader for the second time in a week.

The visiting Bloodhounds jumped out to a 5-0 lead in their first game en route to winning 8-5, while the Bearcats won in a walk off in the second game 9-8.

The Bearcats improve to 10-2 in the CUNYAC and 16-10 overall.

HIGHLIGHTS

Game 1

* Danielle Petrunti had the hot bat going 3-for-3 with an inside the park homer.

* Bridget Campanelli batted 2-for-3 with a walk.

* Julia Cuttone and Mircelis Paredes each smacked a double.

Game 2

* The Bearcats jumped out to a 4-1 lead before the Bloodhounds exploded for six runs in the sixth inning for a 7-4 advantage. The Bearcats regrouped and scored four runs in the bottom sixth to take back the lead at 8-7.

* The Bloodhounds tied the contest at 8-8 in their top half of the seventh and that set up the dramatic opportunity for the Bearcats' last at-bat.

* The Bearcats set up the walk-off with Paredes and Jessica Davis each getting on a base via a single. Jordyn Schwartz bunted them over into scoring position. Megan Bell then singled to right field for the winning run.

* Carly Quint, Bell, Petrunti, and Davis had two hits each in the team's second straight CUNYAC walk-off win.

* Quint and Campanelli each had inside the park homers.
