Bearcats Sweep Lehman in Home Opener

The softball team swept a CUNYAC doubleheader from the Lightning of Lehman College on Saturday afternoon at Flowers Park  in New Rochelle, New York.

The Bearcats, who were playing their first home game in nearly three years, won each game 8-0 to improve to 10-6 overall and 4-0 in the early season CUNYAC schedule.

HIGHLIGHTS

Game 1

* Carly Quint earned the win with a complete game (6IP, 4H, 0R, 0ER, 0BB, 11K). She also batted 3-for-4 at the plate with a triple, three RBI and two runs scored.

* The Bearcats scored eight runs on eight hits. Emilia Zakoscielny was next best after Quint with two hits, which included a double, three RBI and one run scored.

* The team recorded six stolen bases. Jordyn Schwartz had two.

* Quint's RBI single in the first inning stood as the winning run.

* The Bearcats scored in five of the six innings.

Game 2

* Caroline Gallagher recorded the win with a complete game (5IP, 2H, 0R, 0ER, 5K). 

* Neither game one pitcher Quint or game two pitcher Gallagher allowed any walks.  

* Megan Bell (2-for-3), Bridget Campanelli (2-for-3, triple, 1 run), and Schwartz (2-for-2, 1 run) each had two hits.

* Quint cleared the bases with an inside the park grand slam to deep center field in the second inning.

* Amber Rivera's RBI single in the second inning to plate Schwartz stood as the winning run.
