Baseball Sweeps Lehman in Regular Season Finale

The baseball team recorded a doubleheader 16-0 and 9-7 wins againstthe  Lehman College on Saturday afternoon in the Bronx.

The Bearcats finish their CUNYAC schedule with an 11-1 record and will head into Tuesday's CUNYAC Tournament playoff as the top seed in the end of the season championship.

The Bearcats will take on fourth-seeded Lehman College again in Tuesday's playoff with the winner advancing to Friday to play either CCNY or John Jay in a three-game championship series.

HIGHLIGHTS

GAME 1


* The Bearcats led from start to finish pounding out 12 hits for 16 runs, including three homers in the shutout.

* Pedro Tejada, Jr (3-for-5, double, homer, 3 runs, 2 RBI), Steven Patterson (2-for-6, 5 RBI, 2 Runs), and Thomas Drouin (2-for-5, two homers, 5 RBI, 2 Runs) had the hot bats in the opening win.

* Drouin led off the game with a homer.

* Joseph Cocozza scored three runs

* Nathaniel Demchak earned the win (6IP, 4H, 0R) with an impressive 10 strikeouts. Nicholas Rowe finished it off with two strikeouts in one scoreless inning.

* Eight different players had at least one hit.

GAME 2

* In a much more complicated game, the Bearcats held off a Lehman rally for a 9-7 win after leading at one point 8-2.

* Nicholas Umile (2-for-4, run), Patterson (2-for-3, 2 doubles, 3 RBI), and Tejada, Jr. (3 RBI)  again led at the plate.

* Eight different players had at least one hit.

* David Sierra Perez earned the win (4.2IP, 8H, 8K) and Luke Lombardi pitched 2.1 scoreless innings with five strikeouts.

 * Drouin, Cocozza, and Natanael Castillo had two stolen bases each.
