Softball Celebrates Bearcat Appreciation Day, Honor Petrunti, Paredes, Zakoscielny

VIDEO: BEARCAT APPRECIATION DAY CEREMONY

The softball team took on Hunter College on Saturday in a CUNYAC doubleheader at Great Kills Little League in Staten Island, New York.

The Bearcats put up a battle but lost the doubleheader 12-4 and 7-5.

After the games, the Bearcats hosted a ceremony to honor Emilia Zakoscielny, Danielle Petrunti, and Mircelis Paredes on Bearcat Appreciation Day.

Information on the CUNYAC Championship Tournament will be announced shortly. 

HIGHLIGHTS

Game 1


* The Bearcats jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a Carly Quint RBI double and Danielle Petrunti RBI ground out.

* The visiting Hawks scored seven runs in the fourth inning to break open the game.

* Quint (two doubles, two RBI) and Julia Cuttone (two runs) finished with two hits each.

Game 2

* The game started with each team scoring twice in the first inning. Quint had an RBI single and Bridget Campanelli had an RBI double for the two early first inning runs.

* Hunter scored four runs in the third inning to force the Bearcats to play catch up.

* Quint smacked a sacrifice fly RBI to cut the score to 6-3 in the fifth inning.

* Hunter tacked on another run in the sixth for a 7-3 score.

* The Bearcats rallied in their final at-bat with more two runs on a Quint two-run double, but the rally fell just short in a tough 7-5 loss.
