Baseball Wins Big at Old Westbury

The baseball team recorded a season-high in both hits (13) and runs (14) for a 14-5 win against SUNY Old Westbury on Tuesday night.

The Bearcats set the tone early with a six-run second inning to jump ahead 6-1. They added two more in the fourth and four in the fifth inning for the solid non-conference win.

The Bearcats bats came alive as they scored against four of the five Old Westbury pitchers tonight.

HIGHLIGHTS

* David Sierra Perez earned the win in relief with six innings pitched, allowing four hits, one earned run, while striking out two.

* Brian Hwang was tops at the plate batting 4-for-5, with two runs scored and an RBI.

* Joseph Cocozza batted 3-for-5, with three RBI. He smacked a triple to score Hwang in the second inning.

* Seven different Bearcats crossed the plate with Lucius Paradiso with three runs scored, while Thomas Drouin, Hwang, and Cocozza had two each.  

* Nicholas Umile's sac fly in the second inning to plate Robert Wakely stood as the winning play.
