Softball Ends Regular Season with DH Split at New Jersey City

CUNYAC SOFTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP INFORMATION & COVID PROTOCOLS

The softball team finished their regular season strong on Tuesday after splitting a non-conference doubleheader at New Jersey City University.

The visiting Bearcats lost the first game 3-2, but came back to win the second 6-2.

The Bearcats will next begin play in the double-elimination CUNYAC championship tournament at Brooklyn College on Friday at 1:15 p.m. against John Jay.

HIGHLIGHTS

GAME 1


* The Bearcats scored twice in the first inning on a RBI double by Carly Quint and RBI ground out by Bridget Campanelli.

* The RBI by Quint was her 59th of the season, which currently leads NCAA Division III. 

* The host Gothic Knights were held scoreless in the first four innings, but scored their first run in the fifth inning and added two more in the sixth to rally for the home win.

* Julia Cuttone was tops at the plate batting 2-for-3 with a run scored. 

* Quint and Jessica Davis each had a double.

GAME 2

* The Bearcats took control in the second game leading 4-1 in the fifth inning en route to the 6-2 win.

* Megan Bell, Jordyn Schwartz, and Cuttone (2 RBI) each had two hits.

 *Schwartz for the fifth time this season scored three runs in a game. Bell scored twice.
