Men's Basketball Wins CUNYAC Regular Season Title, Honor Michael Gannon on Bearcat Appreciation Night

The men's basketball team won their eighth straight contest downing the Bloodhounds of John Jay College, 81-56, on Tuesday night in the ARC Arena. 

With the result, the Bearcats win the CUNYAC Regular Season Championship (1st place) and earn a bye straight to the semifinal round of the conference's championship tournament scheduled for next Tuesday, February 21. The Bearcats will host Saturday's quarterfinal winner between York and Hunter.

This evening, the Bearcats led from start to finish and connected on 12 three-pointers, including eight in the first half, en route to the home win.

The visiting Bloodhounds kept it close trailing only 46-38 with 16:06 left, but the Bearcats went on a furious 23-2 run to take control 69-40 to record the victory.

Prior to the contest, the team honored Michael Gannon for all his hard work in his final season on Bearcat Appreciation Night.

Gerard Nicholson (14), Sean Donnellan (13), Jehmehl Fair (11), and Gannon (11) led another balanced attack for the home victory in the regular season finale for both teams.

Garrison Watkins led the visiting Bloodhounds with 16 points.
