Bearcats Fall to New Jersey City

The baseball team lost 13-3 to the Gothic Knights of New Jersey City University in a non-conference contest on Friday afternoon at the Thomas M. Gerrity Athletic Complex in Jersey City, New Jersey.

The Gothic Knights pounded out 13 hits for 13 runs scoring at least one run in each of the first four innings for the home victory.

The visiting Bearcats scored once in the second inning and twice in the fifth to finish with three runs on nine hits.

The Bearcats scored their first run as Kenneth Taveras smacked an RBI single to left center to bring home Jacob Auerbach.

They scored their other two runs in the the fifth on an Andrew Horyczun RBI single to plate Roy Longarzo and a Pedro Tejada, Jr. RBI double to bring around Horyczun.

Horyczun and Joseph Cocozza (double) had two hits each in the tough loss against an opponent that competes in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC). 

Dom Yarson led the Gothic Knights batting 3-for-5 with four RBI.

The Bearcats were scheduled to play tomorrow (Saturday) in a home non-conference doubleheader against SUNY Old Westbury, but it was postponed due to the bleak forecast for rain.
