Softball Takes Two at SUNY Purchase

The softball team is on a four-game winning streak after defeating the Panthers of SUNY Purchase in a non-conference doubleheader on a chilly Thursday afternoon in Purchase, New York.

The visiting Bearcats won the first game in five innings, 14-2, by totaling eight hits and scoring six runs in the fifth inning to put the game away.

Carly Quint earned the win pitching five innings, allowing only three hits, two runs (both earned), two walks, and recording six strikeouts.

Mia Faddah (2-4, 2 RBI, 1 run) and Megan Bell (2-3, double, 3 runs, 1 RBI) led at the plate with two hits each in the mercy rule win.

Danielle Petrunti (3 RBI) and Milagros Arias (2 RBI) each were a big factor scoring runs.

Jordyn Schwartz (five walks, three runs) and Bridget Campanelli (three walks) were on base all game.

In the second game, Caroline Gallagher earned the pitching win with a line of 4.1 innings with four runs (all earned), four strikeouts and no walks.

Quint came in relief (2.1 IP, 1 hit, 5K) for the save and she also batted 3-for-5 at the plate with a homer, double and two RBI.  

Julia Cuttone (2-for-4, 1 run), Petrunti (2-4,  2 runs), and Bell (2-4, 1 run) had two hits each.   

Damaris Adames notched two RBI in the road win.
