Bearcats Fall in Extra Innings at Farmingdale

The Bearcats and Rams of Farmingdale State College played a very competitive and exciting non-conference doubleheader on Thursday afternoon on Long Island.

The first game was a pitching duel and was decided in the extra innings bottom nine on a fielder's choice SAC bunt by the Rams for the walk-off win.

Carly Quint pitched nine solid innings with eight strikeouts. Mia Faddah smacked a triple in the fourth inning but the Bearcats could not get her home.

In the second game, the Bearcats struck first as Julia Cuttone got on base with a single and scored on a Danielle Petrunti RBI double.

The host Panthers came back with two runs in their opening at-bat, but the Bearcats tied it in the top second as Meenakshi Mugrai scored from third on a muffed throw.

The Panthers put the game out of each in the third inning with six runs on four hits en route to the 9-4 victory.

Petrunti finished 2-4 with an RBI double. Megan Bell, Jordyn Schwartz (double), and Cuttone each had a hit as part of the Bearcats' six total hits in the second game.

Priscilla Rivera led the Rams batting 3-4 with 2 runs scored.
