Men's Volleyball Wins Third Straight CUNYAC Championship, Return to NCAA!

The men's volleyball team won their third straight CUNYAC Championship after defeating the Hawks of Hunter College in four sets (20-25, 27-25, 25-19, 25-19) on Friday night at the Hunter Sportsplex.

The Bearcats lost to Hunter twice in the regular season, each time by four sets, but tonight they turned the tables and took control starting in the second set to record their four-set championship win.

The Bearcats will discover their first-round NCAA opponent and location on Monday at 10:00 a.m. ET via NCAA.com.

The two rivals each totaled 49 kills but the Bearcats were more effective hitting .180 compared to the Hawks at .120.

The turning point of the match took place in the second set with the Bearcats trailing 23-19, but they battled back to win 27-25 to even the match at 1-1. They carried that momentum the rest of the evening en route to the title and 3-1 win.

For the second straight season, Jack Centeno was named the Tournament MVP. He totaled 12 kills and 10 digs tonight. Ryan Oommen and Defeng Han were each named to the CUNYAC All-Tournament Team. 

Haoxin Hu had one of his best matches all season with a career-high 15 kills.

The Bearcats totaled 20 blocks and received 28 assists from Oommen for the victory.

Jonathan Liao came up big again with 13 important digs.
