Bearcats Split Exciting CUNYAC Doubleheader Against Hunter

The Bearcats and Hawks played a very competitive doubleheader on Monday afternoon at Randall's Island.

The Hawks won the first game in a walk-off 2-1, but the Bearcats bounced back in the second winning in extra innings, 7-4.

Mia Faddah scored in the second inning on a wild pitch for the early 1-0 lead and that stood until the Hawks came up for their final at-bat.

The Hawks scored their two runs on three hits and won on an RBI single by Jessica Fowl.

Unlike the first game, the second game featured more scoring and 25 total hits between the two rivals.

Danielle Petrunti smacked an RBI single to score Megan Bell for the first inning 1-0 lead.

They added three more runs in the third inning that began with a Bell single, a Julia Cuttone single, and Petrunti reaching base on an error that helped score Cuttone and Bell. Milagros Arias later hit an RBI single to plate Carly Quint for a 4-1 lead.

The Hawks battled back with a run in each of the third, fourth and fifth innings to tie it up at 5 and later both went into extra innings.

Petrunti smacked another RBI single to plate Amber Rivera and Faddah came up to blast a two-run homer to left-center for the 7-4 lead in the top of the eight inning.

Quint earned the win in relief and shut down the Hawks in their final at-bat to clinch the 7-4 win that ended a 22-game losing streak to Hunter dating back to 2013.
