Softball Now 7-1 in CUNYAC, Defeat Brooklyn in DH

The softball team is off to a 7-1 start in CUNYAC after a doubleheader sweep of the Bulldogs of Brooklyn College on Thursday afternoon.

The visiting Bearcats received solid starting pitching and totaled 14 runs on 19 hits to improve to 13-11 on their season record.

In the first game, Carly Quint pitched a complete game allowing only 4 hits, 1 run, 1 walk, and 5 strikeouts for the 6-1 victory. She also contributed at the plate batting 2-for-4 with a double and 1 run scored.

The Bearcats scored right away in their first at-bat with 4 runs on 4 hits en route to the victory. 

Megan Bell and Mia Faddah each had a double.

In the second game, Caroline Gallagher pitched a complete game shutout with no walks, 4 hits allowed, and 4 strikeouts.She also batted 1-for-2 with a run scored.

Julia Cuttone had the hot bat going 4-for-4 with an RBI and run scored. Bell and Grace Osuch each had a double, while Quint and Bridget Campanelli each had 2 RBI in the important victory.

The Bearcats broke open the game in the sixth inning with 6 runs on 5 hits for the victory that sets up a potential showdown next week for first place against John Jay.
