Bearcats Sweep John Jay Scoring 30 Total Runs in CUNYAC DH

The baseball team had a big Saturday afternoon twice defeating the Bloodhounds of John Jay College of Criminal Justice in a CUNYAC doubleheader played at Trenton Thunder Ballpark in Trenton, New Jersey.

The visiting Bearcats led the entire way in both games totaling 30 runs on 26 hits to improve to 3-1 in the early season CUNYAC schedule.

In the first game, Nathaniel Demchak earned the win with a pitching line of 5 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB and a commanding 9 strikeouts. Brian Baek pitched the final two innings to seal the 14-3 game one win.

The top of the line up came up big with Roy Longarzo leading off and batting 3-for-4, with a double, two singles, one RBI, and three runs scored.

Andrew Horyczun (double) and Joseph Cocozza (triple) each had two hits and three RBI. Robert Wakely walked three times.

The Bearcats scored eight runs in the first inning to set the tone early for the victory.

In the second game, Jeremy Ramirez earned his first intercollegiate win with a line of 6 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 K. Jack Miller pitched a quiet 1-2-3 seventh inning with one strikeout.

The Bearcats broke open the game with an eight-run fifth inning.

Longarzo was a menace on the bases scoring four runs while also batting 2-for-4 with two doubles.

Cocozza did the damage at the plate batting 2-for-3, with two RBI, four runs, and one double. Horyczun had two more RBI and scored three runs.

Brian Hwang (3 RBI), Pedro Tejada, Jr., and Steven Patterson each had a triple as the Bearcats win streak now stands at three in a row.
