Women's Volleyball Defeats CCNY in Playoff; Advance to Semifinal vs Hunter

The women's volleyball team defeated the Beavers of CCNY in four sets in a CUNYAC playoff match on Tuesday night at CCNY's Nat Holman Gymnasium.

The Bearcats advance to the semifinal round on Thursday to play at top-seed Hunter College with first serve scheduled for 6:00 p.m.       

The Beavers won the first set 21-25, but the visiting Bearcats took control winning 25-19, 25-14, 25-23 en route to the first round playoff victory. 

Dibjot Kaur had a career night with 18 kills, while the trio of Michelle Murillo, Karolina Lundqvist and Delaney Killeen each added seven kills in a balanced scoring attack.

Karen Pozo Castro racked up 35 assists. Karla Javier Leyba registered a career-high 29 digs, while Caroline Elfner posted 24 digs and Kaur also had a career-high 19 digs.

The Bearcats totaled a season-high 111 digs tonight.  

CCNY's Ivann Zamora Sanchez paced the home team with seven kills. Rosalynda Russo posted 28 digs and Viviana Alatorre recorded 22 assists.
