MBB Falls to Clark of Massachusetts

The men's basketball team lost 79-69 to the Cougars of Clark University on Saturday afternoon in Worcester, Massachusetts.

The home team Cougars from the New England Women's and Men's Conference (NEWMAC) started with two straight threes in the opening minutes and led throughout the first half building a 34-23 advantage with 3:16 remaining before halftime.

The visiting Bearcats clawed their way back scoring six of the next eight points to cut the deficit to 36-29 at halftime.

The Bearcats built on their late first half momentum by cutting the deficit three times to one point for a close contest in the early stages of the second half.

The game turned in the Cougars favor with 11:25 left as they scored 11 of the next 12 points on a game-busting run that propelled them to a 61-50 lead.

The Bearcats kept battling back and managed to get as close as eight points (77-69) on a three by Peter Douvres, but the Cougars hung on for the home victory.

Gerard Nicholson was tops this afternoon with 19 points, while Brandon Goldberg scored 16 points and Dylan Minnick had 14 points. Minnick also added six rebounds, five assists, five steals and one block. 
  
The Cougars had four players in double-figure scoring and were led by Richard Jordan and Christopher Clarke with 17 points each.
