The men's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against the Brooklyn College Bulldogs in a CUNYAC matchup on Wednesday afternoon at Joseph F. Fosina Field (Flowers Park) in New Rochelle, New York.
Brooklyn opened the scoring in the 17th minute when Adan Khodorkovsky made a solo run on the left side and slipped a through ball to Andrew Gavrilov, who converted for the early lead.
The Bearcats' defense settled in and kept the Bulldogs from extending their advantage, as the teams entered deep into the second half with the score still 1-0.
Baruch's persistence was rewarded in the 72nd minute. Off a throw-in by Michael Figueroa, Ailey Dawson delivered a quick cross that found Rayan Vukovic, who headed home the equalizer to make it 1-1.
The Bearcats pressed late and nearly snatched the winner in the final minute, but a Brooklyn defender cleared a powerful strike by Anthony Prado just before it crossed the goal line to preserve the draw.
The Bearcats will return to action on Saturday, October 4, when they host the CCNY Beavers in another CUNYAC contest at Columbia University's Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
