The women's volleyball team took on the Eagles of Saint Elizabeth University on Thursday evening in the ARC Arena, earning a straight-set victory at home.
The Bearcats got off to a quick start in the opening set, jumping ahead 8–4 with four early kills. Although the Eagles battled back to tie the score at 15–15 and later took a brief 16–15 lead, the Bearcats responded. Dibjot Kaur recorded a key kill off an assist from Karen Pozo Castro to ignite a 10–4 run that secured the first set, 25–20.
In the second set, Baruch found itself trailing 15–11 before rallying to take a 17–16 lead. The teams traded points down the stretch and were tied at 23, but another timely kill by Kaur, assisted by Isabel Torres, gave Baruch set point. The Bearcats closed it out, 25–23.
Baruch carried that momentum into the third and final set, opening with a 5–1 scoring run and extending their lead to as many as seven points (19–12). The Bearcats maintained control to seal the sweep with a 25–18 victory.
The Bearcats will next host the Hunter College Hawks on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. in the ARC Arena on Bearcats Appreciation Night.
