The women's volleyball team fell in four sets to the Pratt Institute Cannoneers, 3-1 (18-25, 13-25, 25-20, 13-25), on Tuesday night in Brooklyn.
The host Cannoneers jumped out to a two-set lead, taking the first two frames 25-18 and 25-13. The Bearcats regrouped in the third set, showing resilience to win 25-20 and get back into the match. The fourth set remained close early, but Pratt pulled away with a decisive 6-1 run to build an 18-9 advantage and went on to clinch the match 25-13, finishing with a 43-31 edge in kills.
Dibjot Kaur once again led the Bearcats with 10 kills, nine digs, and five aces, while Karen Pozo Castro dished out 25 assists to pace the offense. Defensively, Pei Qiong Ren and Ava Tartour each totaled nine digs, and Alicia Graves was active at the net with two solo blocks and four block assists.
For Pratt, Colleen Russell and Maggie Hughes led the way with 12 kills apiece.
The Bearcats will now enjoy a brief break before returning to action next Thursday. October 16, for a CUNYAC matchup at John Jay College.
