MBB Defeats Hunter in Battle of Lexington (99-69)

The men's basketball team is now 10-1 in the CUNYAC after defeating Hunter College, 99-69, in the exciting annual Battle of Lexington classic on the first Thursday of February in the ARC Arena.

The Bearcats dominated the action this evening, jumping to a 51-27 halftime lead and finishing with 12 three-pointers. This was their 10th straight win against their Lexington Avenue rivals.

Four players scored in double figures, led again by Gerard Nicholson, who scored 29 points (5-10 3FG) and five rebounds. Between his current Baruch and past numbers at FDU Florham, Nicholson also reached the milestone of 1,000 career points.

Brandon Goldberg had what is becoming the usual double-double every night, this time 18 points and 13 rebounds to go along with five assists. 

Rookie Trevon Coppin continues to show he is one of the best rookies in our metropolitan city with 17 points and six rebounds.

Jack Gordon was in double-figures again with 12 points, while Dylan Minnick and rookie Peter Douvres chipped in with eight points each.

The defense was all over the Hawks in the first half, allowing them to shoot only 24 percent (8-for-34 FG).

Casey Meyers led the Hawks with 14 points.
