Hunter Defeats WBB in Battle of Lexington (70-58)

The women's basketball team played against their rivals the Hunter College Hawks in the annual Battle of Lexington game on Thursday night. The Hawks defeated the Bearcats 70-58 in CUNYAC action.

The score in the first half was very close. The squad trailed the Hawks 14-10 at 2:03 in the first quarter. However, the Bearcats responded with a 20-11 run to lead 30-25 at halftime.

The game turned in Hunter's favor in the final 2:43 of the third quarter. The visiting Hawks scored 11 of the last 12 points to go from a Bearcat lead of 41-38 to a Hunter lead of 49-42.

The Bearcats battled in the fourth quarter but could only get as close as five points in seeing their eight-game winning streak end.
 
Mia Castillo tallied a double-double with 30 points, 17 rebounds, and four steals. D'Andre McRae had a near-double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds.

Lillianna Morales had six points and 10 rebounds.

Alexa Charles of the Hunter Hawks scored a team-high 24 points.

The squad's next game is away against the Cougars of Medgar Evers College on Tuesday, February 11, at 5:00 p.m.
