Montclair State Take Two From the Bearcats

The softball team lost a non-conference doubleheader to the Red Hawks of Montclair State University on Thursday afternoon.

The two teams played a very competitive first game with Montclair winning 2-0 after scoring their runs in the bottom of the sixth to break open a scoreless contest.

Rookie Ava Lavery had the Bearcats' lone hit with a double in the third inning. Leilani Jimenez pitched a strong game with four strikeouts.

In the second game, Montclair scored four runs early in the first inning but the Bearcats quickly responded with two runs in the second inning as Lavery was the star again with a two-run RBI single. 

Montclair finished the game with 11 hits for the 6-2 victory.

The Bearcats doubleheader on Saturday at SUNY Purchase has been postponed. A rescheduled date will be posted on the website shortly.
