Ryan Oommen Reaches 2,000 Career Assists, Bearcats Lose to #7 Messiah in 4, Win in 5 Against Widener

The men's volleyball team on Saturday headed down to the Philadelphia region to compete in a tri-match hosted by Widener University in Chester, Pennsylvania. 

The highlight of the day was senior setter Ryan Oommen recording his 2,000th career assist. He becomes the third Bearcat with 2,000 or more assists in his outstanding career. 

The Bearcats started strong against #7-ranked Messiah taking the first set 25-22, but their ranked opponent came back to win 25-17, 25-16, and 25-20 for the four-set victory on the neutral court. 

They then took on Widener and won an exciting five-setter. They started with a 30- 28 victory but Widener came back to win the next two 25-17 and 25-20. The Bearcats did not lose their composure and came back to win their next two in compelling fashion 26-24 and 16-14 to walk away with the hard-fought five-set victory.

The Bearcats will return home to play Lexington Avenue rival Hunter College on Tuesday night at 6:00 p.m. Prior to the match, the team will honor final-season players Haoxin Hu, Noah Pak and Raymond Yu.
