Men's Tennis Start CUNYAC Schedule, Defeat John Jay (9-0)

The men's tennis team started the CUNYAC portion of their schedule on Tuesday night defeating the Bloodhounds from John Jay College 9-0 in a match played at the U.S. National Tennis Center in Queens.

The visiting Bearcats won all three doubles and six singles for the shutout victory to improve to 6-1 overall and 1-0 in the CUNYAC.

The duo of Tuna Nergizoglu and Liam Cooper earned the first team point winning at second doubles, 8-0.

Juan Mendoza won at first singles 6-0, 6-0 to raise his season singles record this season to 7-0.

Several rookies also contributed to the win with Giovanni De Santis III winning at fifth singles, 8-0, and Benjamin Kreiger winning at sixth singles, 8-0.

CUNYAC matches will feature the 9-point scoring system where each of the three doubles is worth one point and each of the six singles is also worth one point. The best out of nine points wins the match.
