The women's basketball team fell 76–57 to the Lightning of Lehman College on Wednesday night at ARC Arena in a game defined by contrasting halves.
The opening quarter was tightly contested, ending in a 10–10 tie as both teams struggled to find offensive rhythm. The Bearcats gained momentum in the second quarter, outscoring Lehman 20–14 to take a 30–24 halftime lead. Strong defensive play fueled the Bearcats' advantage.
Lehman seized control after the break with a dominant third quarter, outscoring the Bearcats 35–16 while shooting an efficient 64 percent (14-for-22) from the field. The surge gave the Lightning a 59–46 lead heading into the final quarter, and they continued to build their advantage to more than 20 points before closing out the 76–57 victory.
Despite the loss, the Bearcats held a 49–40 edge on the boards, led by several strong individual performances. Isabella Kostyal-Larrier paced the Bearcats with 15 points, while Lola Idir chipped in 12. Lillianna Morales recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Lehman was led by Heaven Figueroa, who finished with 19 points and nine rebounds, while the Lightning forced 24 total steals in the game.
The Bearcats will look to bounce back on the road in CUNYAC action, traveling to Medgar Evers College to face the Cougars with tip-off scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
