The women's basketball team lost 94–72 to the Bloodhounds from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in Saturday's CUNYAC quarterfinal matchup.
The opening period was tightly contested, but the hosts John Jay seized control in the second period with a decisive 28–17 run. They shot 52.4 percent (11-for-21) in the frame, building a 53–36 halftime advantage.
The Bearcats battled hard in the second half, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome. John Jay's efficiency at the free throw line—finishing 23-for-24—and a 37–23 rebounding margin helped secure their home victory.
Isabella Kostyal-Larrier led the Bearcats with 20 points, five rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Rookie Lola De Luka delivered a career-best performance, scoring 17 points (including 3-of-4 from behind the arc) while adding five rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Lola Idir also had a strong outing with 16 points, four 3-pointers, four rebounds, and three steals.
John Jay's balanced offense featured six players scoring in double figures, paced by Bryan Bascones' 19 points and eight rebounds.
