The softball team earned a doubleheader split on Sunday against St. Joseph's University–Long Island, marking the third time this week Baruch has split a challenging twin bill.
In the opener, the Bearcats secured a 4–1 victory by breaking a 1–1 deadlock with three runs in the top of the seventh inning. Mia Faddah delivered the decisive blow with a two-run double, and Leilani Jimenez followed with an RBI single to cap the rally. Baruch had tied the game earlier in the fourth inning when Grace Osuch drove in a run with a double.
Jimenez was outstanding in the circle, tossing a complete-game three-hitter. She struck out seven batters and allowed just one run to earn the win.
The Golden Eagles took control in the second game. Baruch struck first, as a sacrifice bunt by Jules Wychunas combined with a fielding error allowed Megan Bell to score for an early 1–0 lead. However, St. Joseph's responded with four runs in the fourth inning and added two runs in each of the fifth and sixth innings to pull away for a 9–1 victory in six innings.
The Bearcats return to action on Tuesday when they travel to face Sarah Lawrence College in another doubleheader.
