The men's volleyball team turned in a milestone performance on Saturday, recording the highest postseason finish in program history by placing second at the ECAC Division III Championship Tournament, hosted by Rutgers–Newark in Newark, New Jersey.
The Bearcats opened the day with a strong showing in the semifinal round, defeating Penn State Behrend in four sets, 25-18, 25-16, 23-25, 25-20, to punch their ticket to the championship match.
The Bearcats were powered by a dominant all-around effort from Peter Gavroff, who delivered one of his best matches of the season. Gavroff put away 21 kills while hitting an efficient .395, and added nine digs and three service aces to fuel the attack. Argjend Osmanaj also turned in an impressive performance, finishing with a career-high 18 kills and 12 digs as Baruch controlled the tempo for much of the match.
Setter Valentin Rodriguez orchestrated the offense flawlessly, handing out 38 assists and keeping the Behrend defense off balance.
In the title match, Baruch faced tournament host Rutgers–Newark but came up short, falling in straight sets, 25-22, 25-16, 25-16. The Scarlet Raiders proved efficient and consistent throughout the match, attacking at a .333 clip to capture their second straight ECAC Regional Title.
