Joseph Braun was officially promoted to Head Softball Coach on Monday, June 17, 2019.
Braun spent the 2019 season as the Softball Recruiting Coordinator. In addition to his softball duties, he will also serve as Assistant to the Director of Facilities.
He becomes the sixth head coach in the history of the Baruch NCAA Division III softball program and brings over a decade of softball coaching experience from both the high school and travel ball levels.
"Thank you to Heather MacCulloch and the entire Bearcat family for giving me this opportunity," said Braun. "I look forward to bringing back a successful softball program both on the field and in the classroom. I hope to bring a championship back to Baruch in the next few years."
Joe has also most recently served as varsity coach at Saint Rose High School in Belmar, New Jersey during spring 2018, taking a 4-12 team the previous year to a 7-9 record in his first season to qualify for states. The following season he took the team to Gateway high school and won the inaugural Gateway Gators Spring Swing Tournament.
He also coached for two years (2016-18) at Toms River North High School Junior Varsity, and prior to that, the New Jersey Fury Elite Club Program's U10, U12, and U18 programs.
One of Braun's most notable experiences is his service for over a decade serving as a Head Coach/Board member in the Toms River Girls Softball League.
In addition to coaching at Baruch, Braun works as a softball instructor and coach for the New Jersey Ruthless softball program. He provides individual instruction as well as team instruction for all age groups in the organization.
Braun lives in Toms River, New Jersey with his wife Shannon, and his 3 daughters MacKenzie, Sydney and Kelsey.
He studied education with a specialization in biological sciences at the University of South Carolina - Upstate and graduated from Western Governors University with a Bachelor's in Education.
He studied his Master's in Education with a specialization in athletic coaching from Northcentral University.
