Senior softball shortstop Melissa Pena has been named the Baruch Athlete of the Month for the period of April/May. The two months are combined, due to the limited number of athletic contests during the month of May.
Melissa had an outstanding April/May that culminated with her being named the MVP of the CUNYAC Softball Tournament. For her MVP efforts during the tournament, Baruch softball won their first-ever CUNYAC Championship and earned an appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

* Totaled three hits, scored two runs and knocked in one more in a home win over John Jay (4/5).
* Batted 2-3, with two runs scored and four RBI is a home win over York (4/13).
* Batted 3-4 from the plate, scoring one run and knocked in three more in a road win over Brooklyn (4/24).
* Batted 2-4, with one run and tying her month-high four RBI versus Staten Island (5/8) in Game 6 of the CUNYAC Softball Championships.
* Knocked in two RBI in Game 7 to seal Baruch’s victory over Staten Island (5/8) to win the CUNYAC Softball Championships.
* Scored the team’s only run in the NCAA Tournament game against Neumann by hitting a home run (5/7).
* For the period of April/May, Melissa scored 26 runs, collected 25 RBI, hit five home runs with a .389 batting average.
* Named a CUNYAC First Team All-Star.
