Junior forward Folashade Akinde has been voted the Baruch Athlete of the Month for January 2011.
During the Month of January, Akinde was twice named the CUNYAC Player of the Week. She averaged 14.2 points and 11.5 rebounds per game in leading the team to a fantastic record of 11-1 in January

** Shot 7-of-15 from the floor, scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds, in a road win at John Jay (1/5).
** Tied her month-high 19 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in a road win at Lehman (1/12).
** Notched another double-double, scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds, in a home win over Staten Island (1/14).
** Followed that game with another double-double performance, scoring 16 points and grabbing 11 rebounds, at Richard Stockton (1/17).
** Shot 8-15 from the floor, scoring 18 points and grabbing 12 rebounds, in a home win over Brooklyn (1/21).
** In her next game, she shot 7-16 from the floor, scoring 19 points with 14 rebounds in a win over rival Lehman (1/24) at NJ Nets Arena in Newark.
** She saved the best for last going 8-of-14 from the floor, scoring 18 points and grabbing career-high 20 rebounds, in a home win over York (1/28).
