Men’s swimmer Gabriel Yanez has been named the Baruch Athlete of the Month for November 2012.

Yanez, who competes as a two sport athlete in the fall sports with men’s cross country, had a solid November in and out of the pool.

*Led the swimming team to a CUNYAC road victory against Brooklyn College on Nov. 12. He finished in first place in the 200 Yard Medley Relay (1:52.29) and 100 Yard Butterfly (59.26) events, while finishing second in the 500 Yard Freestyle (5:50.08).

*Against Div. I Manhattan on Nov. 16, he finished second in the 200 Yard Individual Medley (2:08.65) and fourth in the 100 Yard Backstroke (58.84).

*Against York in a CUNYAC meet on Nov. 19, he took second place in the 50 Meter Freestyle (29.06).

*Yanez is a solid community leader at Baruch. Yanez, along with co-team captains Ryan Flynn and Patrick Campbell, took members of the men's and women's swimming teams on Saturday, Nov. 10 to Rockaway Beach in Queens to assist with efforts from Hurricane Sandy. WATCH ON YOUTUBE.
