Freshman Jessica Penaherrera was voted by members of the athletic department as the Athlete of the Month for October.

The native of Ecuador was outstanding for the Bearcats in the sport of swimming and cross country.

In swimming, she opened her career on October 21 in a dual meet against N.J.I.T. by establishing a new standard in the 100 Butterfly, clocking in with a time of 1:16.65 to win the race.  

Jessica also set a new school mark in the 100 Butterfly with a time of 1:17.87 in a loss to Adelphi on October 26.  
 
In cross country, she recorded a stunning debut by winning the City Tech Invitational on October 8, and finished in second place at the 2006 CUNY Athletic Conference Finals at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx on October 22.
 
For her brillliant efforts, Jessica Penaherrera is the October Athlete of the month.
