For the second straight game, every player saw action as the women’s basketball team defeated York College, 85-45, in a conference game played on Thursday night in Queens.
York scored the first basket of the evening, but the visiting Bearcats (10-4, 4-0 CUNYAC) scored 21 of the next 23 points to build a commanding lead, 21-4, just nine minutes into the game.
They eventually entered the halftime leading, 47-20, and had little trouble the rest of the game to remain undefeated in conference play.
Karlee Whipple (Lund, Nevada/Lund) and Kaleia Davis (Bronx, NY/Lehman) led the way with 17 points each, while Monique Salmon (Brooklyn, NY/Truman) and Lorin Clarke (Brooklyn, NY/Bishop Ford) scored 10 points each.
Whipple also added six steals and Clarke nailed two of the team’s four total 3-pointers this evening.
Naesha Tyler-Moore (Chicago, III/Rich Central) scored seven points, while Maria Turner (Bronx, NY/Aquinas) and Chiresse Paradise (Chicago, III./Rich Central) scored six points each.
The Bearcats shot 46 percent (36-78), and easily won the rebounding battle, 51-36.
York struggled shooting only 25 percent (15-61), and were led in the scoring column by Deloress Maeweather (Jamaica, NY/Campus Magnet) with 18 points.
Baruch will return to action this Sunday with a very competitive non-conference road game at DeSales University (9-2) in Center Valley, Pennsylvania.
