Bearcats, Rams Draw in Battle of CUNYAC vs Skyline Conference

The Baruch Bearcats and Farmingdale State Rams played to a 1-1 non-conference draw on Monday afternoon in Farmingdale, New York.

The Rams started strong with an 8-2 shot advantage and quickly scored at 8:18 with Paul Ryan finding the back of the net unassisted for the 1-0 lead.

The Rams pressed for the second goal but the Baruch defense put together a solid team effort to enter the halftime only down by one goal in Long Island.

The Bearcats started the second half with their own offensive attack and were rewarded at 47:30 with Valiantsin Kirykovich  scoring his fifth goal of the season unassisted to tie the contest.

The Rams outshot the visiting Bearcats all afternoon (26-16), including an 11-7 advantage in the second half, but could not get past the defense with goalkeeper Nelson DiBastiano recording nine total saves.

The teams played two 10 minute overtime periods but could not resolve the match as the Bearcats played to their fourth tie of the regular season to run their record to 7-3-4 overall.

Farmingdale State, one of the top teams in the Skyline Conference, now own a record of 8-5-1 overall with their first tie of the schedule.

The Bearcats will finish their regular season schedule on Wednesday with a 6:00 pm conference contest at the Met Oval against Medgar Evers College.
