Box Score

The freshmen strike force of Dominick Cinquemani and Daniel Ospina scored a goal each to defeat the Valiants of Manhattanville College, 2-0, on Monday night at the Met Oval.

The non-conference home victory improves the team's record to 4-2-3, which includes four wins and one tie in their last five matches.

The surging Bearcats will turn their attention next to the defending champions and current first place owners York College with an exciting showdown on tap for Wednesday night. Kick off at the Met Oval is scheduled for 6:00 pm.

Daniel Ospina scored the opening goal at the 23:40 mark by curling a perfectly placed free kick over the defensive wall for a 1-0 advantage.

Despite the Valiants pressing for the tying goal, the Bearcats struck again at 73:07 on a counter attack to take a two goal lead.

Valiantsin Kirykovich attacked down the flank, and despite heavy defensive pressure to knock the ball way, the junior striker still managed to fire a cross into the box that an unmarked Cinquemani found all alone to tap in the second goal to the delight of the Baruch bench.

Manhattanville struggled heavily to penetrate a strong Baruch defense that featured three acrobatic saves by junior goalkeeper Nelson DiBastiano (10 saves).

Defender Juan Vasconez, one of the many new faces in what is turning into a solid recruiting class by the coaches, also saved a goal off the line to keep the visitors off the scoreboard.

The Baruch defense has allowed only one goal in their last five matches, while the offense has scored 12 goals in that same stretch.
