Women's Basketball in Action
The women's basketball team will return to action on Monday night with a 5:30 pm road game at Rutgers-Newark (Live Flash Stats Available).

Women's Basketball Defeats York in High-Scoring Game (90-69)

The women’s basketball team defeated the Cardinals of York College, 90-69, in a very exciting high-scoring affair in the ARC Arena on Thursday night that featured team totals of 159 points, 164 shots and 34 three-point attempts in 40 minutes of action.

The women have now won three straight games as they improve to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the CUNYAC standings, while York drops to 0-3 overall and 0-2 in the conference.

The two teams played an up-and down game during the first half and York hung around tough to trail 43-37 at halftime. Elizabeth Padilla played a major part in keeping the visiting Cardinals close by scoring 14 points at the intermission.

However, the second half was a much different affair as Baruch opened with an emphatic 21-3 run to build a 64-40 advantage only six minutes into the start of the second half. That run put the conference game out of reach for the Cardinals.

Junior forward Kalea Davis played a major part by recording the finest game of her young career with 19 points, 17 rebounds, five steals and three assists to pace four players in double-figure scoring.

Latesha Reddick recorded another double-double (15 points, 10 rebounds), while Karlee Whipple scored 14 points and Monique Salmon contributed 10 points and seven assists to help record the team’s fourth win in five games this season.   

Christina Kelly scored seven points and grabbed nine rebounds in 21 minutes off the bench.

Elizabeth Padilla finished with 14 points, while Delores Maeweather scored 13 points for York College.

The Baruch women’s basketball team will return to action on Monday, December 8, with a 5:30 pm non-conference road game at Rutgers-Newark in Newark, New Jersey.
