Baruch jumped out a 2-0 lead, but the Saints stormed back to win the final three sets to begin their participation in the Baruch Invitational on a high note. Christina LaVigna notched 15 kills and Melissa Warren recorded 45 assists to lead the visitors from Virginia. Christina Pierre and Lauren Hayden led Baruch with seven kills each. Melinda Santiago had 24 assists.
Saturday, October 17
R.I.T. (NY) 3, Manhattanville (NY) 0
(25-10, 25-10, 25-8)
The Tigers from Rochester Institute of Technology cruised to a 3-0 sweep against the Valiants of Manhattanville. Victoria Petko led the attack with 7 kills and Christina Worth recorded 15 assists and five aces. Ally Johnson and Kelly Schlittenhardt had three kills each for Manhattanville.
Elmira (NY) 3, Baruch 1 UPDATED BOX SCORE
(24-26, 25-19, 25-11, 25-22)
The Bearcats won the first set, but the Soaring Eagles won the next three to clinch the victory. Tesia Kaczynski led the visitors from Western New York with 43 assists and Brittany Raykoske notched a team-high 17 kills. Baruch was led by Lauren Hayden with 15 kills (.667), while Christina Pierre had 10 kills and Melinda Santiago dished out 16 assists.
Marymount 3, Richard Stockton (NJ) 2
(20-25, 25-27, 25-23, 25-21, 19-17)
For the second straight match, the Saints fight off elimination down 2-0, and come back in dramatic fashion to record a stunning five set win by taking the fifth, 19-17. Sharda Braxton led the way with 19 kills and Liz Paccione collected 19 digs. Christine Velott led the Ospreys with 13 kills and Stephanie Warner had 10 kills in the tough loss.
Baruch 3, Manhattanville 0 BOX SCORE
(25-9, 25-20, 30-28)
The Bearcats earned their first invitational victory with a sweep of Manhattanville. Carissa Hoover notched eight kills (.727), while Melinda Santiago had an all around match with 32 assists, seven aces and 15 digs.
R.I.T. 3, Marymount 2
(19-25, 25-12, 25-21, 16-25, 15-9)
The Tigers stayed undefeated and handed the Saints their first loss of the invitational. Victoria Petko led again with 15 kills, while Rebecca Moore had 13 kills. The Saints, who played their third 5-set match of the weekend thus far, were led by Melissa Warren with 33 assists. Stephanie Bell collected 11 kills for 2-1 Marymount.
Elmira 3, Richard Stockton 1
(25-20, 25-22, 12-25, 25-21)
Elmira joined fellow upstate school R.I.T. in a first place tie in New York City. Tesia Kaczynski led the attack with 41 assists and Sasha Zavadska had 17 kills for the Soaring Eagles. Laura Hausman (17) and Jackie Aldrich (14) combined for 31 assists for the Ospreys.

Richard Stockton 3, Baruch 1 BOX SCORE
(25-19, 25-10, 22-25, 25-23)
Richard Stockton started off by winning the first two, but had to then hold off a Baruch rally to earn their first victory of the weekend. Christine Velott led the attack with 18 kills and Stephanie Warner had 16 kills. Carissa Hoover and Lauren Hayden notched 10 kills each for the hosts Baruch.
Elmira 3, R.I.T. 1
(20-25, 25-12, 25-14, 25-19)
In a battle of upstate schools from the Empire 8 Conference, Elmira won in four this morning. Sasha Zavadska and Brittany Raykoske led Elmira with 13 kills each. Victoria Petko and Rebecca Moore had 12 kills each for R.I.T.
Marymount 3, Manhattanville 1
(21-25, 25-18, 25-11, 25-9)
Manhattanville won the opening set, but has happened all weekend, Marymount rallied to earn their third victory of the invitational. Liz Paccione led the way for the winners with 16 digs and seven aces. Christine LaVigna notched 13 kills. Sarrah Chabaoui led Manhattanville with eight kills, while Marissa Pagli dished out 14 assists in the tough morning loss.

(25-14, 25-7, 25-16)
The Soaring Eagles from Elmira clinched first place with a sweep of the Valiants to go 4-0 this weekend in New York City. Elmira joins Colby-Sawyer (2008) as the first two winners of the invitational hosted by the Baruch College women's varsity volleyball program. Tesia Kaczynski led the attack again with 11 assists in the quick sweep and Janice Embury recorded 14 kills.

R.I.T. clinched second place with a sweep of the Ospreys from the New Jersey Athletic Conference. Victoria Petke had 13 kills and Rebecca Moore had 12 kills for R.I.T. Christine Velott led Richard Stockton with 12 kills in the loss.
