Women's Basketball Defeats Medgar Evers, 77-48

Lorin Clarke scored 14 points and Kalea Davis had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds to lead the women’s basketball team to a 77-48 CUNYAC home victory against Medgar Evers College on Tuesday night in the ARC Arena.

The Bearcats (3-0, 1-0 CUNYAC) led from start to finish and used strong defense to force 37 turnovers (21 steals) to begin their 2009-10 conference schedule again on a winning note.

In addition, the team stretched their winning streak against CUNYAC opponents (regular season & conference tournament) to 20 games.

Megan Bouwens recorded 11 points, six rebounds and three steals, while Monique Salmon nearly had her own double-double with nine points and 10 assists. Anika Sierk finished with 10 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the field.

Tiffany Thompson led visiting Medgar Evers (2-5, 0-1 CUNYAC) with a double-double of 18 points and 14 rebounds.

The women’s basketball team will return to action on Friday night, December 4, by competing in the Amherst Classic in Amherst, Massachusetts. The Bearcats will play Trinity College of Connecticut with tip off scheduled for 8:00 pm (live stats link below).
