The baseball team will return to action on Tuesday, March 17, with a 3:30 pm single home game against New Jersey City University. Please note this game will now be played at the New Jersey City baseball field.

Baseball Defeats Yeshiva Again, 16-3

The baseball team defeated Yeshiva University, 16-3, in a non-conference road game on Thursday night at Taft High School in the Bronx.

With the victory, the Bearcats are 2-0 on the young season, as they finish a two game sweep of the Maccabees from the Skyline Conference.

Sophomore Jason Valentin earned the victory by pitching five innings with three earned runs, four strikeouts and only three hits allowed.

Junior David Chestnut pitched four scoreless innings with eight strikeouts to help round out the victory.

The visiting Bearcats broke open the game with five runs in the fourth inning. Marcos Mejia had the big hit with a double to score two runs.

Baruch added four more runs in the seventh inning, highlighted with a two RBI double by Paul Masone.  

Newcomer Jorge Rosado had another big game with a 4-for-4 (double, 3 singles) performance at the plate that included three walks. Rosado also stole two bases.

Mejia finished batting 3-for-5, with five total RBI, while Joseph Valentin batted 2-for-3 (two singles) with two RBI and two total stolen bases.

John Avona also had a solid game on a cold evening in the Bronx with three singles.

The baseball team will return to action on Tuesday, March 17, with a 3:30 pm single home game against New Jersey City University from the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC).

Please be advised that the game against New Jersey City will now be played at the baseball field at New Jersey City University with Baruch as the home team. The baseball field at Westchester Community College is not yet available for games.
