New Paltz State Defeats Baseball Team (10-4)

The baseball team lost a 10-4 non-conference single road game to the State University of New York at New Paltz on Friday afternoon in New Paltz, New York.

The game between CUNYAC and SUNYAC schools was tied (3-3) going into the bottom of the fifth inning, but the Hawks scored the next seven runs to break open the tightly contested game for the eventual 10-4 victory.

Jorge Rosado (two run double) and Benjamin Riofrio (two runs) had two hits apiece this afternoon as part of the team’s total nine-hit attack.

Jonathan Shanks of New Paltz went the full nine innings with seven strikeouts, three earned runs and nine hits to record the victory on their home soil.

The Bearcats will return to action Tuesday, April 14, with a 3:30 pm single non-conference home game against the State University of New York at Purchase.  This game will be played on the baseball field at Bronx Community College.

Please note that Saturday’s non-conference doubleheader against St. Joseph’s College of Brooklyn has been postponed. No rescheduled date is available at this time.
