Women's Volleyball Knock Off John Jay

The women's volleyball team swept the Bloodhounds from John Jay College of Criminal Justice by the scores of 25-17, 25-11, 25-13 in a CUNYAC match on Tuesday night in the West Side of New York City.

With the road victory, the Bearcats improve to 6-3 overall and 2-1 in the CUNYAC. John Jay drop to 2-4 overall and 1-2 in CUNYAC.

Sophomore Lauren Hayden led the way with nine kills, while freshman Carissa Hoover totaled seven kills to go along with five aces. Junior Christina Pierre and senior Mayra Estepan each finished with four kills.

Melinda Santiago led the offensive attack with a game-high 20 assists. Earlier today, Santiago, a freshman setter from East Patchogue on Long Island, was named the CUNYAC Women's Volleyball Rookie of the Week.

Andrea Medina led John Jay with five kills and four total digs.

The Bearcats will return home for their next match on Thursday night against SUNY-Old Westbury. First serve in the ARC Arena is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
