Women's Volleyball Win Two of Three Matches at Ramapo Quad

The women’s volleyball team won two of their three matches on Saturday at the Ramapo College Quad in Mahwah, New Jersey.

The Bearcats (10-4) started the day by defeating Simmons College of Boston in four sets with scores of 25-19, 25-20, 19-25, 25-13.

Christina Pierre and Mayra Estepan had a solid match with nine kills each. Estepan also contributed nine digs.

Melinda Santiago was busy with 35 assists, seven digs and three service aces. Posey Wilson finished with 14 digs and four service aces.

The Bearcats then took on the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and came from behind with scores of 23-25, 25-22, 25-19, 26-24 to earn their 10th win of the regular season.

Lauren Hayden led the way with 13 kills (.480 hitting pct.), while Carissa Hoover notched 11 kills and four service aces. Wilson finished with 28 digs and four service aces. Santiago dished out 40 assists and collected 11 digs.

In the final match of the day, the Bearcats lost a tough match in five sets with scores of 26-24, 13-25, 12-25, 25-23, 8-15.

Hoover led with 17 kills, six digs and two service aces. Pierre had another solid effort with 11 kills, while Santiago dished out 38 assists.
Edita Muminovic also had a solid match with 12 digs and two service aces.

The women’s volleyball team will return to action on Tuesday, September 29, with a 6:00 pm CUNYAC home match in the ARC Arena against the Bridges of Brooklyn College.
