Women's Volleyball Edge William Paterson

The women's volleyball team overcame a tough first set loss (22-25) by winning the next three sets in impressive fashion (32-30, 25-23, 25-23) to record a 3-1 victory against the Pioneers of William Paterson University in a non-conference match on Tuesday night in Wayne, New Jersey.

With the victory, the Bearcats improve to 3-2 overall, while the Pioneers suffer their first loss to drop to 2-1 on the young regular season schedule.


Freshman Melinda Santiago had a big match with 55 assists and 10 digs, while sophomore Lauren Hayden recorded a career high with 19 kills.

Freshman Carissa Hoover notched a double-double with career highs of 16 kills and 12 digs, while junior Christina Pierre recorded 13 kills and two blocks.

Sophomore Posey Wilson collected 16 digs to help the Bearcats stretch their win streak to three matches.

Senior Kelly Helfrich had 20 kills and seven digs for the Pioneers, while sophomore Megan Maher notched 16 kills and 19 assists.

The Baruch women's volleyball team will return to action on Thursday night with their home opener at 7:00 pm against the State University of New York at Purchase.
