Baruch 79, Brooklyn 65; Bearcats Improve to 14-4

The women’s basketball team defeated the Bulldogs of Brooklyn College, 79-65, in a CUNYAC contest on Saturday afternoon in Brooklyn, New York.

The Bearcats (14-4, 7-0 CUNYAC) led by one point at halftime (36-35), but used a strong performance in the second half by shooting 50 percent (16-32) en route to a 79-65 victory against the home team Brooklyn College (9-8, 5-3 CUNYAC).

Megan Bouwens led the offensive effort with 17 points and nine rebounds, while Kalea Davis recorded 16 points and six rebounds.

Anika Sierk had another all-around effort with 15 points, seven assists and three steals. Lorin Clarke contributed 11 points and shot 3-of-7 from three-point range.

Overall, the visiting Bearcats shot 48 percent (31-64) to help the team stay perfect (7-0) in the conference standings.

Priscilla Ramirez led Brooklyn with 20 points and six rebounds.

The women’s basketball team will resume action on Wednesday, January 27, with a 5:30 pm home game against John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
