Bearcats Bounce Back to Defeat Rutgers-Camden

The women’s volleyball team rallied to defeat Rutgers-Camden in four sets in a non-conference match played on Tuesday night in Camden, New Jersey.

The visiting Bearcats (13-9) lost the opening set by the score of 25-16, but took control the rest of the match by winning the next three sets with scores of 25-22, 25-14, 25-22.

Lauren Hayden led the Bearcats with 11 kills, nine digs and four blocks. Melinda Santiago dished out 29 assists and totaled three aces to go along with eight digs.

Carissa Oliveira (six digs) and Martina Micko finished with seven kills each.

For the second consecutive match, Posey Wilson established a career-high in digs by finishing the match against Rutgers-Camden (8-11) with 41 digs.

The women’s volleyball team will return to action on Columbus Day, Monday, October 11, with a pair of matches at the CUNYAC Multi-Match hosted by Brooklyn College. The Bearcats will play Lehman College at 1:00 pm followed by a match against John Jay College of Criminal Justice at 5:00 pm.
