The men’s soccer team defeated the Beavers from the City College of New York, 3-0, in a CUNYAC home match on Wednesday night at the Met Oval in Maspeth, New York.

The Bearcats (7-4-1, 5-2 CUNYAC, 15 pts) have won three consecutive matches and five of their last six overall to maintain their hold of first place in CUNYAC. The visiting Beavers drop to 2-8-1 on the season and 1-3-1 (4 pts) in the CUNYAC standings.

Boris Lipsman opened the scoring at 31:33 after Andreas Hansson fired a corner kick into the box that found Lipsman open to score the goal for the 1-0 lead.

Juan Vasconez raised the advantage to two goals at 39:50. Igor Polisski sent a low rolling ball through the box and Vasconez easily knocked in the goal for his first score of the season.

Polisski had a busy night and scored the third goal at 63:45 of the second half off a double assist from Stefan Cocea and Valiantsin Kirykovich. The goal by Polisski was his fifth of the season to tie him with Kirykovich for the team lead in goals (5).

Overall, the Bearcats dominated in the shot category (21-3), and forced CCNY goalkeeper Tayfun Kucuk into making five total saves. Michael Murphy had another solid match in front of the goal for Baruch with two saves.

The men’s soccer team will return to action on Saturday, October 9, with a CUNYAC home match against York College. Kick off at the Met Oval is scheduled for 12:00 pm.
