Women's Basketball Roll Past Farmingdale State, 83-52

The women’s basketball team defeated Farmingdale State, 83-52, in a non-conference game on Tuesday night in the ARC Arena.

The Bearcats shot 46 percent (32-69), including 53 percent (17-32) in the first half to jump out to a 46-17 halftime lead.

They finished out-rebounding their opponents from the Skyline Conference by a 65-25 advantage to cruise to the 83-52 home opener victory.

Megan Bouwens scored the first six points of the game to go on to record a double-double of 21 points and 13 rebounds, while Folashade Akinde also had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Maria Turner came off the bench to score 13 points and grab six rebounds in 18 minutes of action. Kristin Sells shot 3-of-5 from 3-point range to finish with nine points.

Nikita Green led Farmingdale State with 15 points and five steals. Natasha Smalls totaled eight points, seven rebounds, four steals and three assists.

The women’s basketball team will return to action on Sunday, November 28, with a 5:00 pm non-conference road game at William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey.
