There is no admission charge to attend the women's final on Saturday. However, tickets are required for entrance to all basketball games being played at the City College of New York. To obtain free tickets (Baruch fans), please call 646-312-5048 or 646-312-5046. (The best time to pick up tickets in the athletic department is 11:00 am to 7:00 pm)

The women’s basketball team defeated the Dolphins from the College of Staten Island, 82-62, in a CUNYAC semifinal round contest on Wednesday night at the City College of New York.

The Bearcats advance to the CUNYAC Final on Saturday, February 27, for a 3:00 pm showdown against rival Hunter College. The winner will earn an automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Tournament.

The first-seeded Bearcats (22-5) started the semifinal cold by connecting on only four of their 24 shot attempts from the field. The fourth-seeded Dolphins took advantage and led 23-15 with 6:42 left in the first half. 

The Bearcats regrouped and scored the next 13 points to lead 28-23 with 4:08 left. They would continue to lead the rest of the half to take a 41-37 halftime advantage into the locker room.

During the second half, the semifinal remained tightly contested with Baruch leading 59-54 with 6:58 remaining, but they took over in the final six minutes by outscoring Staten Island 23-8 to record the 82-62 victory.

Overall, the Bearcats overcame the early slump to finish shooting 43 percent (31-72). They dominated the boards with a 57-35 advantage and also used their defense to force 26 total turnovers by Staten Island.

Staten Island, which had only six available players and finished the game with four on the court, shot 11-of-31 from three-point range to keep the contest close early.

Kalea Davis led the Bearcats with a double-double of 18 points and 17 rebounds. Christina Kelly (eight rebounds) and Monique Salmon (five assists) finished with 14 points each.

Staten Island (13-12) was led by Danielle McLaughlin with 16 points, which included 5-of-10 shooting from three-point range.
