Baseball Team Drops Doubleheader to SUNY-New Paltz (5-3, 12-6)

The baseball team lost a non-conference doubleheader to SUNY-New Paltz on Friday morning in Cocoa, Florida.

The Bearcats lost 5-3 in the first game as the Hawks of New Paltz jumped out to a 5-1 lead with 10 total hits. The Bearcats rallied in the seventh inning with two runs, but it was not enough to avoid the 5-3 defeat.

Peter Dinolfo (2-4, double, RBI) and Thomas Daly (2-4, RBI single) led the Baruch offense in game one.

In the second game, New Paltz (5-4 record) recorded the sweep by scoring four runs in each of the third, fourth, and fifth innings to lead from start to finish behind a 13-hit attack.

The Bearcats (3-4 record) scored three runs in each of the third and sixth innings with Thomas Daly (3-4, double, two singles, RBI), David Chestnut (2-4, two RBI), Jules Ryan Alonzo (2-4, run scored), and Joseph Murray (2-4, two singles, run scored) leading the offensive effort.

The baseball team will continue their schedule on Saturday morning in Cocoa with a 9:00 am non-conference doubleheader against Richard Stockton College of New Jersey.
